Wells and Young's Add Weight to Licensed Charity Golf Tournament

3rd March 2010

Wells and Young’s has thrown its weight behind one of the Licensed Trade Charity’s largest fund raising events – their national golf tournament by headline sponsoring the event with premium cask beer, Courage Directors.

Now in its fourteenth year, the LTC golf tournament has been raising money for people in need, or their dependents, who have worked in the licensed drinks trade including licensees, brewery and off-license workers. The charity provides support in a variety of ways including financial grants, advice over the phone and equipment such as wheelchairs.

The national golf tournament sees licensees take part in heats across the country with all the money raised going to the charity.

The tournament offers prizes for winners at a regional level and, courtesy of Wells and Young’s, a fabulous day of golf and dinner at Woburn for the winning team and individual from every regional heat across the country.

The LTC estimate that demand for their grants will increase by 18% in the coming year as the pressures on pubs and the economy increase.

Courage Directors is one of the leading cask beer brands in golf clubs and as the sport of golf is becoming more and more popular, Directors is serious about extending its role in golf clubs up and down the country.

Brand manager for Courage, Craig Sammells, explains why Directors has been chosen to support the charity: “Courage Directors is an iconic brand in the beer world – steeped in history and renowned for quality. We are delighted that we are sponsoring the Licensed Trade Charity with their most prominent fundraising event of the year.”
