Gold Rush for Wells and Young's

6th June 2011

Bedford brewery, Wells and Young’s, has won four international awards for quality across their range of beers.

Flagship beer Wells Bombardier and Young’s Special London Ale have both won Grand Gold in the prestigious Monde Selection Awards, with newly launched Mongoose Premium Beer taking home two Gold Awards.

For Bombardier, this is the tenth year in a row the beer has been awarded a Gold medal, demonstrating its consistent quality and world class status.

And with Mongoose, the newest beer to the Wells and Young’s stable, taking home two awards, the brewery’s expertise in brewing top class beers continues to shine.

Jim Robertson, head brewer for Wells and Young’s says: “We have won Monde Selection Awards every year for practically as long as I can remember – yet, every time, it’s such a huge honour. For me and my fellow eight master brewers at Wells and Young’s, it’s a bit like cleaning up at the Oscars!

“There is more to brewing the perfect pint than hops, barley, water and yeast. As well as the very best raw ingredients and accredited natural mineral water which is used exclusively in our beers, pride, passion and dedication play a huge part too. There is nothing quite like the first sip of a perfectly crafted pint of real beer – especially when it’s recognised across the world as being top quality!”

The Monde Selection International Institute for Quality Selections is the oldest and one of the most respected organisations for quality selection in the world. Unlike other quality awards that measure the quality of the manufacturing process, the Monde Awards measure the quality of the final products.
