The Great English Knees Up

11th March 2011

One Patron Saint. One Royal Wedding. Two Long Weekends. Eleven Days of Celebration.

Bombardier beer is preparing to launch its annual St George’s Day activity which this year, will be incorporating the Royal Wedding so pubs can make the most of the 11 days of celebration.

Bombardier, the Drink of England, is supporting thousands of pubs across the country in the run up to what is set to be a positive and exciting time. Not only is St George’s Day one of the busiest trading days of the year but it is in the middle of the Easter weekend with two Bank Holidays following the weekend after for the Royal Wedding and May Day. Pubs can’t afford to miss this opportunity to capitalise on the increased footfall in their outlets and Bombardier is the perfect partner to help drive sales.

The theme of the kit is the “Great English Knees Up” and seeks to encourage a time of positive English celebration. Packed with ideas of how to increase sales by hosting a Great English Knees Up event, the kits invite drinkers to celebrate with a pint of Bombardier. Following on from the success of ‘Bombareindeer’ at Christmas, the kit includes two bespoke English pump clips for St George’s Day and the Royal Wedding. There is also merchandise including bunting, table talkers and posters alongside a prize draw mechanic to win classic English prizes.

On buying a pint of Bombardier, drinkers will be given a scratchcard for their chance to win one of three Dawes bicycles, 10 Musto jackets and top prize is a weekend stay for four at Bovey Castle in Devon (terms and conditions apply).

Chris Lewis, marketing director for Wells and Young’s said: “Every year, St George’s Day has grown, and last year our stockists sold more Bombardier in St George’s Day week than ever before. This year, the pub trade can gain a huge boost by celebrating with a Great English Knees Up starting on Good Friday and running on until the May Day Bank Holiday.
