Wells and Young's hires following axquisition of McEwan's and Younger's ale brands

Wells and Young’s, the UK’s largest private brewery, has bolstered its award-winning marketing team with two new marketing recruits following the acquisition of Scottish beer brands, McEwan’s and Younger’s.

Andrew Cross and Toby Lagus have joined the brewery based in Bedfordshire, with a remit to reinvigorate the iconic Scottish ales and drive sales in Scotland, the rest of the UK and in to export markets.

Andrew Cross is senior brand manager and Toby Lagus is customer marketing manager and between them, have over 35 years of drinks industry marketing experience. Both have worked on McEwan’s and Younger’s in the past and with increased marketing spend and focus, Wells and Young’s are confident about the future for these Scottish beers.

Chris Lewis, marketing director for the brewery, says: “We are hugely excited about these fantastic Scottish ales joining our stable, they bring huge opportunity to our business which we will realise through brand investment, innovation and exploiting export potential.

“Andy and Toby bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience of McEwan’s and Younger’s to our business. We are already planning a sizable marketing campaign in the next few months and looking at new product development.”

Wells and Young’s other beers include Young’s, Courage and Bombardier, which has just benefitted from a £4m marketing campaign featuring Rik Mayall.
