Wells and Young's support for Keech

16th September 2010

Keech Hospice Care, a local Bedfordshire charity which provides care to children and adults with life-limiting illnesses, has been chosen as Wells and Young’s corporate charity.

The hospice provides support for families, and treatment for patients to relieve their emotional and physical suffering. And Wells and Young’s has thrown its weight behind the much-needed charity, which needs £5million a year to continue its level of support for people in Bedford and the surrounding area.

As a long-term supporter, this will mean that over the next few years, a number of charity initiatives will be instigated at Wells and Young’s to raise money and awareness of the charity.

Nigel McNally, MD for the brewery says: “Wells and Young’s has an important role to play in our local community, and we want to give something back. By having a chosen charity, it means we can make a real difference.

“This doesn’t mean an end to other charity support – we will continue to raise money for other charities during the year such as Comic Relief and Breast Cancer Awareness, but Keech will be the recipient of larger-scale corporate initiatives.”

Jacqui Shepherd, the fundraising director for Keech Hospice Care said: “We are absolutely delighted that Wells and Young’s has chosen to support Keech and all our wonderful children that sadly have to use the hospice.

“March 2010 was the tenth Anniversary of the children’s unit providing palliative care to both our patients and their families.

“The support is going to make such a real difference to their lives.”
