Young's Launches £0.5 million campaign

2nd May 2010

Young’s beers has launched a £500,000 advertising and events campaign with the Evening Standard.

The ‘Know Your Stuff’ campaign will be a series of six events in Young’s pub across the summer which bring celebrities ranging from former England cricketer, Alec Stewart, through to 1966 World Cup hero, Sir Geoff Hurst, to the pubs to talk about their field of expertise.

The events will be supported with full page adverts in the Evening Standard, tickets to the events for readers and a heavy online presence on Facebook, Twitter and the Evening Standard website.

Members of the public will be able to register for the limited number of tickets to each event, but will also be given a voucher for a free pint which will drive people to Young’s pubs.

Chris Lewis, marketing director for Wells and Young’s Brewery says: “Young’s is bringing together a group of people who really ‘know their stuff’ – whether that be football, rugby, cricket or horse racing – and giving people the chance to attend these unique and exclusive events.

“The campaign works on a number of fronts because it supports the trade by encouraging people to visit their local pub with the offer of a free pint of Young’s, it raises the profile of Young’s beers and therefore the cask beer category and it reiterates Young’s unique standing in the beer world, as a beer that is a cut above the rest. It’s brewed with Red Tractor 100% farm assured English barley, it uses accredited mineral water for brewing and has over 200 years of brewing heritage and passion.”

“The campaign moves the 2009 Know Your Stuff advertising into an experience for cask beer drinkers and will drive association with these celebrity experts.”

The first event is on 18 May with former England cricket captain, Alec Stewart.
