How long have you worked here? Since April 2007
What’s your favourite part of your job? I am very passionate about the production of beer generally. I like problem solving and working in a busy environment where there is lots of variation through the day.
What’s the working environment like? It can often be very busy, so you have to be good at prioritisation. There can be lots of different people to interact with, both within ones own team and different departments. The phone can sometimes seem like it is constantly ringing, with one or another problem to deal with- you have got to keep a cool head!
Describe your day to day responsibilities: As a process team leader I am at the front line of running the brewery from the delivery of raw materials, through the brew-house, fermentation, conditioning & racking and filtration. It is my responsibility to make sure that everything happens in a timely manner, in particular making sure that the packaging lines are always supplied with beer. The odd bit of time not spent around the plant is used as admin time; to calculate line efficiencies, keep the time and attendance system up to date and write programmes.
