International Reach

From Japan to Jamaica, from Bedford to Budapest, our partnerships and pubs extend well beyond the traditional confines of 'A UK Regional Brewer'.
Charles Wells has a long standing commitment to working internationally as well as looking after its many customers in the UK. Since 1976 Charles Wells has been brewing Red Stripe Jamaica Lager Beer under license and since then other, similar agreements have been established with equal success.

The company is just one of three breweries outside Japan to be licensed to brew Kirin Ichiban, the super-premium lager beer with a global market. Charles Wells' master brewers brew Kirin Ichiban using the 'Ichiban Shibori' process - the same technique employed by their Japanese counterparts, for distribution in both the Uk and throughout Europe.

Charles Wells exports around 10% of its volume to 40 countries and, in recent years, has received a Queen's Award for Export Achievement in recognition of this success.

Furthermore, the company has established the successful John Bull British Pub franchise in Russia, Poland and Hungary and has traditional British pubs, such as 'The Bombardier' in Paris, providing the qualities and traditions of British ale and pub culture to delighted locals and ex-pats alike.
