Here's to another 30 years!

Wells and Young’s Brewing Company is commemorating its hometown’s 30th Anniversary of town twinning with the German town of Bamberg, with a special edition bottle of beer.

Residents of Bedford and Bamberg will be able to say “Cheers!” in style, as Wells and Young’s chose Young’s Special London Ale to give the people of Bamberg a taste of England.

The beer will be launched alongside Bedford Borough Council’s celebrations at this year’s International Kite Festival on the 23 and 24 June, which will mark the official anniversary of the signing of the town twining agreement.

Head brewer, Jim Robertson, who oversaw the brewing process said: “I hand-picked Young’s Special London Ale as the beer uses the finest English ingredients, and has a warmth and depth of character that reflects the two towns. So what better way to toast the successful 30 year relationship than with a Bedford-brewed beer? I am sure that the residents of Bedford and Bamberg will enjoy celebrating with a taste of Bedford.”

Cllr Apu Bagchi, Portfolio Holder for Partnership Working, Twinning and Transport, said: “This year we are marking 30 years of town twinning with Bamberg. Working with Wells and Young’s we have commissioned this limited edition bottle recognising the proud brewing heritage of both Bedford and Bamberg. Limited edition bottles will be available at this year’s International Kite festival where we will all be able to toast the special friendship between the two towns.”

The beer will be available at the International Kite Festival, the Bedford Beer Festival and various other events marking the twinning.
