Wells Bombardier English Premium Bitter Announces Major New Sponsorship of the Victor Chandler British Masters The Jackal at Thurleigh, Bedfordshire, has been enjoying an astounding run of successes since the landlords Kevin Hanks and Julia Hook took over in August 1999.
This attractive pub and restaurant can be found in a small idyllic village just off the A6. The Jackal is instantly recognisable as a part thatched pub, adorned outside with colourful hanging baskets and big pots of flowers. Rolling fields back onto ample parking and a large child friendly garden at the rear

The Jackal, now regarded as one of the "must visit" pubs within the Charles Wells estate, has won a stream of awards both from the brewery recognising quality and also they have won the prestigious silver award from the Morning Advertisier (Industry publication) for Best Tenanted Pub of the Year.

Over the next few months, The Jackal promises to surpass all expectations with a tantalising menus that will suit every taste and pocket, whether it be a business lunch, a family gathering or celebrating that special occasion, a particular aspect that Julia and Kevin take pride in. Each summer they hold a fun and informal and fun Pig Roast to celebrate the anniversary of taking over the pub, it's a lovely relaxing day for all, and a nice way to say thank you to their customers for their loyal support and custom over the year.

This year the annual pig roast will take place on Sunday 26th August. An 120lb pig will be slowly roasted during the night over a traditional apple wood fire. The Jackal is promising a full day of entertainment complete with a bouncy castle, fun lunch boxes for children and live music. The day begins from 1pm.

The Jackal is recognised and enjoyed by many for its mouth watering menu designed by Kevin, who enjoyed the honour of training alongside Gordon Ramsey.

Kevin has designed a Restaurant menu, alongside a more informal menu which can be eaten in the spacious garden, the bar or at lunchtime. If you require a special menu for an occasion he will do this willingly to suit your budget and taste.

The restaurant menu contains many signature dishes. Noisettes of lamb set on dauphinoise potatoes with tarragon and spring onion, Tournedos of beef stuffed with stilton and served with rich port sauce with wild mushrooms and garlic are two of the most popular dishes.

For fish lovers the Monkfish wrapped in pancetta, served on a bed of cous cous with sun-dried tomato and garlic vinaigrette is a firm favourite, alongside Sea bass fillets with fennel & lime and Chargrilled Tuna with a pungent Thai dressing. There is also a comprehensive wine menu that is changed regularly to compliment the current menu.

The menu for lighter bites in the garden or bar offers a mixture of appetising snacks with main meals, poppy seed rolls, an array of salads and more traditional steaks are firm favourites. Succulent dishes such as creamy lemon & thyme risotto with smoked salmon and fragrant Thai red chicken curry are always popular

Drinks on offer include an extensive wine menu and also beautifully kept real ale, including Wells Bombardier and Wells Eagle IPA.

With such delicious treats on offer anyone would be foolish to struggle with cooking in their own kitchen, when they can sit in such gorgeous surroundings in an award winning pub enjoying the very best food and drink that Bedfordshire has to offer.
